“We’ve got Tegan she’s on the win, we’ve got Charlie doing her thing” was the headline in our Match Preview article ahead of the Celtic Fc Women v Spartans game at the Penny Cars Stadium in Airdrie, and both players got on the score sheet in what was a frustrating afternoon against the Edinburgh visitors.
The equaliser by Charlie Wellings in the closing stages of stoppage time rescued a point after sustained second half Celtic pressure failed to break down the Spartans deep sitting defence. Then seconds later Izzy Atkinson had another one-on-one with the keeper but this time the goalie came out on top to deny Celtic what would have been a sensational win, given the team were 2-1 down with 94 minutes played.
