On paper this looks like an outstanding draw for Fran Alonso’s exciting young Celtic side. This is the club’s first every involvement in the Women’s Champions League so Celtic are a few decades behind in getting our act together in the women’s game. That seems to have happened last season with the Spanish manager really taking Celtic up to another level and running 14 times winners of the SWPL Glasgow City were close for the title, taking it to the last day.

This is the first season that Scotland has two sides in the Champions League and Glasgow City has enjoyed considerable success in the competition which this year seems a massive jump in prize money – up to £40m – and exposure with every match in the competition this season available as free to watch on You Tube.
