The 1990s was obviously a dark period for Celtic, however, there were a few great days and one such day occurred 24 years ago, on 10 March 1996. Supporters of a certain age will recall the Scottish Cup quarter final at Celtic Park when the stadium was under construction. Many talk of the match as one of the great atmospheres in modern times, and little wonder given the difference in expectation at the time.

Scarcely will you see the pitch in such a state at Celtic Park these days! Nevertheless, a crowd of just over 32,000 were treated to a memorable match. Dundee United took the lead through Coyle in the 29th minute, when he turned in the rebound from his penalty after Gordon Marshall saved. Yet the home fans stayed with the team and were rewarded in the final two minutes as Van Hooijdonk and Thom scored within 60 seconds of one another, to turn the game on its head and spark wild celebrations.
