With the recent tragic news of Dr Jozef Venglos’ passing, I felt it appropriate to revisit one of his finest games as Celtic Manager, when the Hoops thrashed Rangers 5-1 at Paradise. To make the moment that bit sweeter, the much doubted Lubomir Moravcik, who Dr Jo brought to the club, scored a fantastic brace that day.

Venglos handed Lubo his first Glasgow Derby appearance that day and also gave a debut to another of his superb signings – Johan Mjallby. Meanwhile, Mark Viduka was close to joining the club at this time.

Celtic raced into the lead through Moravcik on 11 minutes, then the superstar made it 2-0 in the 49th minute, before Henrik Larsson compounded Rangers’ misery by adding a third two minutes later.

The ‘Gers had a slight bit of hope when Van Bronckhurst pulled one back, but the King of Kings added his second and Mark Burchill capped things off with a late goal to make the score 5-1.
