Brendan Rodgers spoke with the media this afternoon and confirmed the worst fears that the Celtic support had about Liel Abada; namely that he will be sidelined for a significant period of the season. It’s another crushing blow for the club in terms of injuries and we will now need others to step up in his absence to guide us to more success in the Irishman’s second spell.

Yang Hyun-jun and Luis Palma have been drafted in during the summer transfer window as well as Marco Tilio respectively. All three men will have a big part to play now that Liel finds himself on the treatment table and will have to endure a long and arduous process of getting back to his former self before his unfortunate injury.

James Forrest is also available to the manager, although his game time has been reduced significantly as his powers are on the wane the older he gets. However, he will still be another useful, experienced head to call upon in times of trouble which will no doubt lie ahead in various matches throughout the next few months ahead.

The manager confirmed to the assembled media today that the little Israeli would be missing for around “three to four months” after his knock on international duty with his country this past week or so. Liel has all the support and best wishes of the Celtic Family and we hope he’s back raring to go sooner, rather than later.
