Brendan Rodgers has paid tribute to outgoing Celtic manager by appearing to take a shot at Peter Lawwell in the process. The ex-Celtic manager who won seven trophies out of seven left for Leicester in February 2019 and was replaced by Lennon; however, the Irishman’s second term in charge came to an end yesterday as he resigned.

Rodgers said that the club need to remodel and give a Director of Football a remit to sign players and help the new manager, inferring that the previous system headed up by de-facto DOF Peter Lawwell was not adequate.

Rodgers left owing in part to the power struggle with Peter Lawwell and autonomy he had over signing players, it is essential that whoever becomes manager is aware of the new set up and a new DOF can work to increase the club’s profile in the game once more.
