The Celtic YouTube page has uploaded the old highlight footage of Celtic’s heroic 2-1 victory over Barcelona in the Champions League.
In arguably one of the greatest moments ever captured in Celtic Park, the Hoops defeated arguably the best team of all time: a prime Barcelona with the likes of Lionel Messi, Andres Iniesta, and Xavi to name a few. At that point, Barcelona hadn’t lost an away UCL group stage fixture in six years previous. That record was smashed by the Bhoys who defeated the Spanish Giants in 94 tough minutes.
The atmosphere in Paradise that night was completely electric. The Bhoys were enjoying their 125th anniversary through a fantastic stadium display before kick-off. A header from Victor Wanyama saw Celtic net the first goal of the match.
An ever-reliable Fraser Forster put in an amazing effort for the duration of the match, keeping one of the most ruthless attacks at bay. To the shock of many, Celtic went 2-0 up following a dramatic strike from Tony Watt. An injury-time goal from Messi wasn’t enough to stop the Hoops from taking all 3 points from Barcelona.
