Ally McCoist put the ‘Gers in front with a neat finish inside 30 seconds. However, Roy Aitken equalised seven minutes later and Frank McGarvey bagged a late winner in the dying moments of the game.
The match was Davie Haye’s first against Rangers as a manager, whilst Paul and Willie McStay also made history by becoming one of the few pairs of brothers to play alongside one another during a Glasgow derby.
