Celtic winger Mikey Johnston scored Ireland’s second goal in this evening’s game against Gibraltar. Stephen Kenny’s team are in Faro, Portugal to face the minnows in a UEFA European Qualifier. Ireland took the lead through Brighton forward Evan Ferguson before Johnston made it 2-0.

In what was quite a bizarre goal, Johnston actually took the goal quite well considering that it ricocheted off the post and back at him. The winger showed great movement to run across the defender and get himself on the end of a Matt Doherty cross before his shot came back off the woodwork.

Johnston was handed a competitive start this evening, something that he has not been able to get under Brendan Rodgers since the Irishman returned to the club. MJ will be hoping that he will be able to push through under Rodgers if he can get up and running.
