Video: Delighted Tony Ralston reacts to goal on first Scotland start

Anthony Ralston was a standout player as Scotland beat Armenia 2-0 in the Nations League tonight. The Celtic full-back started the game over Aaron Hickey in the wake of Scotland’s defeat to Ukraine last Wednesday and he immediately stood out, offering the kind of performances that saw him reinvented under Ange Postecoglou.

The player couldn’t hide his delight speaking to Premier Sports after the game. The 23-year-old opened the scoring for Scotland after 28 minutes finding himself on the end of an excellent Stuart Armstrong cross and guiding a header into the back of the net.

Ralston will be hoping to start the game against Ireland in Dublin on Saturday with Steve Clarke’s team looking for another three points. The player was rightfully awarded MOTM after the game.

  1. Ralston was immense and deserves man of match since resurrecting his game for Celtic last season he,s been one the most improved players in spl

  2. Ralston’s goal was a thing of beauty, he placed that header like a Centre Forward, and his movement on and off the ball was excellent all night…fellow goalscorer McKenna looked solid too, guys a man-mountain, be interesting to see how he copes playing in the top flight down south next season with Nottingham Forest.

I’d imagine Ralston though will now have caught the eye of club sides throughout the continent. He’s contracted to Celtic for another 3 years, and is only just getting started. Any potential fee for his services will have just risen significantly.
