Odsonne Edouard scored his sixteenth goal for the French U21s in a win over Russia this evening. The 23-year-old won a penalty after a trailing leg caught a Russian defender and the Celtic attacker confidently stepped up and sent the goalkeeper the wrong way.
The French youth side are favourites for the tournament but slipped up in their first game with a shock defeat to Denmark. A win over Iceland will seal their progression through to the next stage as Edouard and his French teammates look to win the U21s competition.
After last season’s scintillating form, Edouard has been linked with a multi-million move from the club since the summer. However, now we have been given the clearest indication that the 23-year-old is planning for his future by joining Stellar Sports.
Edouard has been an integral part of the Celtic side since joining on a loan move in 2017. The loan was turned permanent the following summer for around £9m.Edouard can still contribute to making sure that Celtic don’t go empty handed this season as there is still the Scottish Cup to play for and fans will be interested in knocking Gerrard’s side off their perch ahead of next season.
