Neil Lennon was not a happy man when Mikey Johnston was forced from the field following a knock in Wednesday evening’s victory at McDiarmid Park.

Lennon introduced Johnston in place of Leigh Griffiths in the 67th minute as Celtic looked to add to the first half fluffy that left the score at 3-0 going into the break.

Johnston appeared to injure himself after a tackle on David Wetherspoon in the St Johnstone half. Despite continuing, Johnston went down with just ten minutes left on the clock as Patryk Klimala looked to come onto the pitch.

Lennon appeared to ask Johnston if he could continue as Klimala waited patiently amidst the downpour of Perthshire rain. The Scotland U21 agreed that he was fine and Odsonne Edouard was hooked with eight minutes left on the clock.

Johnston then went down again, with a suspected knee injury promoting Tim Williamson to signal to the manager that the young attacker’s game was over.

Johnston walked towards the Celtic bench as if to take a seat before Neil Lennon appeared to give an X-rated response to Johnston.
