In preparation for the upcoming Champions League draw, the Celtic YouTube page has uploaded the old highlights from Celtic’s dramatic 3-0 victory over Shakhtar Karagrandy.
In late 2013, Celtic welcomed Shakhtar to Celtic Park in the second leg of the Champions League qualifiers. The winner of the tie would enter into the UCL Group Stages, so it was all to play for.
Shakhtar went into the match with a 2 goal advantage from the first leg. However, this lead was cancelled out by a fantastic strike from Kris Commons and a lucky finish from Georgios Samaras.
However, after stacking on the pressure, James Forrest netted Celtic’s third goal of the match in the last few minutes, securing Celtic’s place in the Champions League Group Stages that season. Celtic’s starting line-up consisted of Forster, Matthews, Ambrose, Mulgrew, Lustig, Brown, Commons, Ledley, Forrest, Samaras, and Stokes.
