Scotland left it late to beat Israel in a huge win for the nation’s World Cup hopes last night. It was a dramatic night at Hampden Park After trailing at half-time, Lyndon Dykes evened things up as Scotland then pushed for the goal that would take them into the lead.

Scott McTominay popped up at the back post and managed to guide a knockdown from Jack Hendry into the back of the net. The Manchester United midfielder couldn’t miss, giving the Scots a four-point cushion over Israel in second place.
