On this day back in 1966, the soon to be Lisbon Lions breezed past Hearts with a 3-1 victory in the Scottish Cup Quarter-Final Replay. The greatest of them all, Jimmy Johnstone put Celtic ahead after receiving a magnificent pass following excellent midfield play between Murdoch and Hughes. That strike was then added to when Murdoch scored a beautiful lofted finish with his left foot, before Stevie Chalmers, enjoying a regular run in the team alongside Joe McBride, completed the win with a composed goal in the second half.

The decisions to swap Bertie Auld for Charlie Gallagher and Jim Craig with John Cushley had paid off. 72,000 Celtic fans went home happy and could look forward to a Semi-Final against Dunfermline Athletic.
