Over the course of the last 24 hours, a lot has unfolded in regard to the disgraceful racist abuse aimed at Celtic’s sensational new striker Kyogo Furuhashi. Celtic were first to comment, making a concise statement which deplored the actions of those responsible and offered full support to the player. On the other side of the city, Rangers promised an investigation into the matter and, true to their word, have now concluded that probe by banning those responsible from attending future matches at Ibrox.

Now, Ange Postecoglou has had his say. He spoke briefly, but eloquently, making succinct and poignant points. Whilst he indicated that Kyogo’s wellbeing was his primary concern, he also remarked that the issue is “not about education.”

“People are well aware of what’s right and wrong,” Postecoglou insisted, before saying in a less than phlegmatic manner: “Just be a decent human being and treat people with respect.”

Ange’s words should ring true for us all, as we stand by Kyogo and continue to encourage an inclusive society for everyone.
