There’s always talk about a player being “the last man” when it comes to a red card, but the laws of the game do dictate that is needs to be a “clear goalscoring opportunity” so there is a great deal of difference.

There’s always a nervousness when Bobby Madden referees a game against Celtic because he’s liable to make some poor decisions, but this one could be up there.

Nir Bitton definitely fouls Alfredo Morelos so there’s no complaints to be had about that, but he’s in a wide position and Kristoffer Ajer looks well placed to get across and cover:

It’s certainly a good opening for the Rangers so it’s a yellow card offence, but when you consider what Morelos still had to do to score it does look like a particularly harsh call.
