Scotland trail Czech Republic by 1-0 at the interval in the European Championship opener at Hampden this afternoon. Andy Robertson had the best chance for Scotland after being set up perfectly by Celtic’s Ryan Christie but the keeper saved.
With Scotland enjoying the better of the play for the first half hour it was looking good for Steve Clarke’s side, although the threat from the Czech Republic always looked like coming from set plays and sadly so it turned out. With around five minutes to the interval Scotland had to defend a series of corners but couldn’t get the ball clear and in the second phase of the fourth corner Patrick Schick jumped to head low into the bottom corner giving David Marshall no chance.
There were a few shouts for a Scotland penalty in that first half but nothing doing as far as the referee was concerned. Hopefully Scotland can turn it round in the second half.
