Martin O’Neill speaks about Neil Lennon’s achievements in his new autobiography, the former Celtic manager signed Lennon for Leicester City before bringing him to Glasgow’s East End in 2000. It was there that Lennon would enjoy a sensational journey that would see him become a key figure for the club over the next twenty-one years.
Whilst Lennon has left the club with some supporters still upset about the failed 10IAR bid, it is worth remembering all that he achieved as a player and as a manager (in both spells).
Lennon was subject to awful abuse as a player and manager of Celtic Football Club. The Irishman was a constant source of vile attacks but never allowed the diatribes from masses to stop him from succeeding with the club he supported.
Lennon won ten titles with Celtic, eight Scottish Cups and three league cups in two spells as manager and as a player. He will always be a Celtic legend but it was clear that his time as manager was up. Lennon will be recognised for all that he has done for the club but it may take some time as the 2020/21 season was incredibly tough for everyone involved.
Even now, Lennon still speaks about Celtic in glowing terms and is full of praise for the job that his successor, Ange Postecoglou, is doing.
