Scotland manager Steve Clarke has distanced himself from the Celtic vacancy in a Q&A with Team United today. Clarke, 57, is one of the bookies favourites to become the next permanent manager following Neil Lennon’s exit from the club. However, Clarke said that he wanted to lead Scotland to the World Cup Finals in Qatar.
“After the Euros I will go on a big holiday. It is going to be very tiring then we will decide what happens.
“But I have a contract with the Scottish FA up until December 2022 and hopefully I can take the team to the World Cup finals in Qatar in 2022 as well. That would be great and then maybe I can think about club football.”
Clarke would be a solid if not unimaginative choice for the top job at Celtic, coupled with the vitriol from Rangers fans as he achieved success with Killie. Celtic have been linked with some big names, AVB, Rafa Benitez and Roberto Martinez but Eddie Howe appears to be the universal favourite for the job.
