Gordon Strachan has praised outgoing Aberdeen manager Derek McInnes by citing the fact that Celtic players were worried about facing his Dons side. The former Aberdeen winger and Celtic manager spoke to the Football Pass, confirming that he knew that some Celtic players didn’t like facing McInnes’ team.

It is likely that this will have been under Ronny Deila, when Aberdeen emerged as challengers to Celtic for the league title and beat Deila’s side twice in the 2015/16 season. McInnes also found his Dons side in Scottish Cup Finals against Celtic, two in 2016/17 and then in 2018. McInnes was always an articulate, informed manager but his time appeared to be up in Aberdeen.
