Celtic striker Kyogo is set for a summer return to Vissel Kobe after being revealed as a guest for their fixture against Kawasaki Frontale on Sunday, June 16th. The 29-year old helped Celtic towards a Double this season but has returned to Japan for the summer.

In a statement on Wednesday, Vissel announced the return of the star, where he’ll be introduced at half time and also meet fans.

J-League side Urawa Red Diamonds have reportedly put a record bid for Kyogo at the top of their transfer wish list as they look to bring the striker back to Japan permanently.

Kyogo joined in the summer of 2021 and was one of Ange Postecoglou’s first signings. In 83 appearances under the Australian, the Japanese forward scored 54 goals and assisted on ten occasions. Although, after Ange left for Spurs and Brendan Rodgers returned to the club, Kyogo appeared to struggle to adjust to the change.

Despite this, Kyogo scored 19 times and assisted on 5 occasions in 50 appearances this season. Rodgers has already admitted that he wants to make his team in his image with players boasting pace and power. There was a throwaway comment from The Irishman recently about Kyogo making runs that were not on. It could be that the manager sees this as being the ample time to cash in on the striker.
