Mark Warburton, remember him? The former manager of theRangers tipped to be future England manager has come out with a strange theory to as why he found it hard to compete with Brendan Rodgers back in 2016.

Warburton speaking to the media said that he wishes he had the same amount of financial backing that Michael Beale is currently enjoying.

His claims that his players were were on a fraction of what Scott Brown was on were laughable. Yes Broony was on a decent wedge, but didn’t Warburton sign the great Joey Barton? Yes, he did and Joey was on a reported £20k a week.

Philip Senderos who was another of Warburtons disaster buys would have been on an attractive salary with him being an international and playing at a high level most of his career.

Utter claptrap from Warburton. Did he complain that side were paid more handsomely than the rest of the championship the year they won it? No he lapped up the plaudits as everyone pretended his side were prime Barcelona.

His side arrived in the top flight for the first time and declared they were going to win it. they of course didn’t and warburton would be sacked before the club finished the season in 3rd place.

Yes third place behind an Aberdeen side who were paid less per man than their theRangers counterparts. Money had nothing to do with it. They just weren’t good enough.
