I’m confident we’ll score, but I’m also sure that we will concede. No matter the outcome, let’s just hope we put in a fighting performance. It’s all we ask…

Arne Engels could be a match winner for Celtic in Dortmund

Only a few hours until kick off in Germany and the nerves are already starting to kick in. Past experiences at this level aren’t exactly in our favour, and more often than not we don’t do ourselves justice against the bigger sides at this level.

Exceptions are a little higher for this one, especially after our storming start to the campaign, so I can understand why, but it will still be a very tough hurdle to overcome. One thing I’m confident of is that we will score. Dortmund aren’t that secure at the back, while we have been free scoring this season, and we undoubtedly have the talent to breach their backline.

Unfortunately though I’m also sure that we will concede. No matter how strong our defence may be we always concede at this level. It’s a sure thing. That’s not me being negative, it’s just an opinion and I’m sure most of you will share it.

We do however have the firepower to make a difference in the game, and it could well end up being a high scoring draw, or the dream scenario of a win in our favour. It could also go the other way and we suffer a heavy loss. It’s quite frankly, a difficult game to predict, in terms of the scoreline. Anything can happen.

Whatever the outcome let’s just hope we put in a fighting performance that’s full of effort and commitment. It’s all we ask.

Last week our Ghirls did us proud and made history in the Champions League. This time it’s the Bhoys chance as a win in Dortmund would give Celtic our first Champions League win on German soil and would more importantly have the rest of Europe sit up and take notice of Celtic again as a top team in European football..
