Motherwell win at Ibrox – Over to you Celtic…

Well who saw that coming? A Motherwell victory at Ibrox, their first ever top flight league win over the latest Ibrox side (although they did rather hilariously pump them home and away in the Championship play-offs during the Banter Years).

I for one didn’t give the Steelmen a chance yesterday at Ibrox. Like everyone else I thought it would be a formality, for theRangers and their match officials but credit to Stuart Kettlewell and his players as they put Stevie Naismith and Hearts to shame as they went to Ibrox and didn’t step aside and wait to be blown away.

That same Hearts side will be a different animal this afternoon as they get set to face the Champions on their own patch. Make no mistake, they will give their all and more against us as they always seem to do though there.

That is the challenge that awaits us today, and one we will need to overcome if we want to go back to the top of the table. Celtic must match their intensity and their desire, because Naismith will have them firing on all cylinders, something they never seem to do against theRangers when they are through there. Funny that.

As good as the result from Ibrox was yesterday, it will mean nothing if we fail to capitalise on it this afternoon.

You’ve got to imagine yesterday’s result has given the Celtic players an extra spring in their steeps and also a shot of confidence to go along with the superb showing against Dundee on Wednesday night.

It’s all there for them today if they can beat Hearts. Over to you Celtic, don’t disappoint us and don’t miss this golden opportunity to get back to the top of the league and then stay there until the party can get underway in May where Brendan can come out to greet the supporters on the steps of Celtic Park to keep the promise he made last June.

Let’s blow this mob away today Bhoys and incidentally good luck to our ‘good’ Ghirls who are back in action this afternoon against Partick Thistle, you can watch both Celtic matches on TV this afternoon. The Celtic Star’s match preview with full where to watch details can be found HERE.
