Werder Bremen have an advantage over Celtic for a deal to sign striker Georgios Giakoumakis, according to Greek journalist Giannis Chorianopoulos. The VVV-Venlo attacker was in Germany discussing a move to Germany as Celtic ponder a move for the Greek Internationalist.

Chorianopoulos is the Celtic support’s go-to guy as far as information on Greek football when it relates to Celtic. The Editor in Chief at Sportime newspaper and Sportime.gr took to Twitter to say that the German side had an advantage having continued discussions after a €2m bid was turfed out. He did, however, say that Celtic were still in for the player and it appears that the Dutch side will negotiate above €2m for the striker.

Celtic will likely only make a move for Giakoumakis if an acceptable bid comes in for Odsonne Edouard. The Frenchman appears to be of interest to Crystal Palace and OGC Nice but, as of yet, no bids have been received to tempt the club into cashing in so he looks as if he will be remaining at Celtic for the remainder of his contract. This situation will likely twist and turn before the end of the transfer window; however, it would appear that in order to sign the 26-goal scorer from last season, Celtic will need to act quickly.
