West Ham seal free transfer deal for Celtic youngster

West Ham United have sealed the signing of Armstrong Okoflex from Celtic. The 19-year-old will join the Hammers’ U23 team before looking to move into the first team under former Celt David Moyes. Okoflex made just two appearances but he has signed a two year deal, with an option of a third.

The Republic of Ireland youth Internationalist has failed to make an impact at Celtic since joining from Arsenal’s Academy nearly three years ago but now he has signed a deal to return to London.

Okoflex joined the club in September 2018 from Arsenal and was given his first sample of first team football under Brendan Rodgers when he was named on the bench for the late win over Killie in Feb 2019. He was involved in the games against Hibs and Livi earlier this year after the Dubai fiasco.

“I feel very good to have signed,” Oko-Flex told West Ham TV. “It’s good to sign for a big club like West Ham United.

“I’m very excited to get started here. There are a lot of positives around West Ham and it’s just a great Club to be at right now.

“I know a lot of the boys here already. I trained with some of them when I was younger, and I’ve played against some of them as well, so it’s been good settling in and the coaches have welcomed me in very nicely as well.

“I want to thank God first and foremost, and my family and my team around me – without them, none of this would have been possible. I’m just grateful for the opportunity.”

Best of luck to the player but given his lack of involvement in recent times at Celtic, he may struggle unless he buckles down and works hard. He was very active on social media and should perhaps worry more about getting first team football under his belt.
