Following Celtic’s B team’s 4-0 victory over the Civil Service Strollers, coach Stephen McManus spoke to Celtic TV reflecting on the team’s excellent recent performances.
The Celtic B team have now taken six points in their last two games, which has pushed them up to second place in the league, now only trailing Spartans FC by a single point. McManus credits the Hoops for implementing what they have been practising in training into the games and is pleased to see his squads’ hard work now paying off.
McManus also highlights how important it was for Celtic to be relentless. He points out that relentlessness is a quality that great teams have, while using Celtic’s first team as an example of this.
A delighted Stephen McManus outlined his thoughts on Celtic TV. “It was very pleasing. We’ve hit a good bit of form in the last couple of weeks which is great. The boys are implementing what we want to be done from the start of the season and it starts from the hard work, dedication and buying into the ideas that we’re giving them.’
“They’re playing with freedom but their work rate has been terrific and they’re desperate to win the ball high up the pitch. We can still tidy up on the turnovers in regards to the decision-making at times because we’re desperate to score at every opportunity we win the ball back, but some of the performances were terrific and collectively the boys were fantastic so we’re delighted”
“It’s important (following up the derby win) because good teams are relentless in what they do. That’s one thing, our first team have been relentless since the manager has come in at every aspect and we try and play very similarly.
“We asked that question before the game, what type of side are we, and that’s the answer we got, but we’re not surprised by it as we’re lucky to train with the boys every day and see what they’re capable of and that’s the reward with the performance on game-day.”
