Remarkably theRangers and their incredible run of having no penalties against them in the SPFL this season,  continued in unbelievable fashion last weekend.

It’s the second such run to benefit the same club in a little over three years. The first run of 44 games without conceding a penalty in the league was between January 2020 and April 2021. The second run of 51 (a record in Scotland) runs from January 2022 to the present day.

How any team can go almost a season and a half with conceding one penalty, especially when they are not the best team in that league is quite remarkable. And it becomes even harder to believe, when one looks back at the penalty claims which have been denied for the opposition.

Yesterday, former Celtic midfielder Barry Robson was the man who suffered. He and his Aberdeen team, which also features Celtic loanee Liam Scales, were denied a clear penalty when Goldson hauled Duk down. The initial contact was outside the box and continued into the area, as such the referee should have pointed to the penalty spot.

The referee didn’t blow his whistle and VAR failed to intervene.
