Brendan Rodgers was one hundred percent correct when he said Falkirk are the best side we’ve played this season. And it should be noted that they’ve also had the best away support…

Brendan Rodgers has been getting some stick for daring to suggest that Falkirk were the best side we’ve faced this season.  Some noses were put out of joint as we’ve already played in the Champions League and top six sides such as theRangers and St Mirren on domestic duties. Hearts supporters have been curiously quiet for some reason we can’t quite figure out.

But to be honest Slovan Bratislava were a poor side, and our so called nearest challengers from Ibrox were swept aside with greater ease than Falkirk, so why wouldn’t a club who came to Celtic park and achieved what no side has achieved this season in scoring twice against Celtic be considered our most difficult opponents?

It’s an honest assessment by a manager who like the supporters can see the quality of a team with their own two eyes. Falkirk despite being a Championship side took the game to us and played some nice football which was a nice refreshing change to most sides who come here on league duty.

Brendan and the supporters opinions will of course change in the coming week as we have the small matter of a trip to the Westfalenstadion to face Borussia Dortmund to negotiate, but as for the present, Falkirk are indeed the most impressive side we’ve faced this season and its worth checking with new online bookmakers in the UK for odds on them winning the Championship this season to earn a place back in the Scottish Premiership next season.

Maybe other sides will follow their lead and start to have a go at Celtic, rather than parking the bus and waiting for the inevitable. Another way to look at it is this. You can bet that every single Falkirk supporter will be proud of their team today, after an incredible showing at Celtic Park. Yes, Brendan Rodgers had to bring on ‘the big guns’ who were only on the bench in case of emergencies.

We predicted on The Celtic Star that Falkirk would be a tricky proposition for Celtic and that they would come out and have a go and so it turned out. And in doing so they helped serve up one of the most entertaining games of the season. No wonder Brendan Rodgers went into the away dressing room after the match to congratulate the Falkirk players on their performance and their ambition and to tell them to keep it up and go on a win back-to-back promotions, this time to the Scottish Premiership.

And with that away support, they’ll be a decent addition to the league.
