All the talk in recent days has been about Celtic getting a new manager for next season. Eddie Howe is the name that won’t go away, particularly after the Daily Record prematurely announced that he was set to take the Celtic job. However, the rumour mill takes a new twist today as it has just been announced that Rafa Benitez has ended his contract at Dalian Professional and is looking to return to management.

Benitez was heavily linked with the Celtic post just before Neil Lennon got announced as the boss on a permanent basis.

The Spaniard has won top European trophies and managed high level clubs such as Liverpool and Chelsea. Could he be the man to sort Celtic out and propel the Bhoys to the next level in Europe?

These supporters certainly think so:

Other supporters wanting him to join their clubs are Sheffield Wednesday, Sheffield United, Newcastle United and even Chelsea.

Having worked abroad for mega money, it seems unlikely that Celtic could bring him in, but if he wants a challenge at a huge club then there won’t be too many bigger posts than the job at Paradise. With season ticket renewals around the corner, a name like Rafa would be sure to put bums on seats and pay for itself, in the same way that Brendan Rodgers’ arrival did.
