Celtic FC Foundation have paid its condolences to the family of Doddie Weir. The former Scotland Rugby Union Internationalist passed away following a courageous battle with motor neurone disease. Doddie had made huge strides since his diagnosis in 2017 raising money and awareness for the illness.
Doddie and Celtic were due to team up in May 2020 for the Lion’s Roar match, celebrating the legendary Celt Jimmy Johnstone. Celtic Park was due to host the game for MND given the connection to the awful disease through Lisbon Lion Johnstone. However, it was cancelled as a result of COVID-19. Celtic should be doing all they can to ensure that the game takes place and Doddie and Jinky are remembered.

By June 2022, it is believed that Weir’s foundation – My Name’5 Doddie had raised £8m. An extraordinary feat from a warrior on the Rugby field and off it. Celtic FC Foundation took to Twitter to share their condolences for Doddie’s family.
