There are plenty of signs to suggest that most clubs in world football won’t be spending a lot of money this summer, so free agents could be particularly important.

The departures of Jack Hendry and Jozo Simunovic mean that Celtic need to add at least one more centre back, but Nir Bitton showed against PSG that he probably can’t be trusted to play there against the best teams.

It’s an odd situation because Ajer and Jullien should play in every game where they are fit so any new signings would come in as rotation options, so it makes sense to target loans and free agents in that case.

A report from HITC has some interesting news about Ghanian centre back Abdul Mumin – a centre back who they confirm has been linked with Celtic recently.

They indicate that the 22 year old is a free agent after leaving Danish side Nordsjaelland, and they quote a report from Modern Ghana which says Sheffield United have made the first move and opened talks with him.

They even go on to suggest that Celtic’s interest is still there, so it will be interesting to see if they make some kind of approach soon.

He was a regular for his club side last season but hasn’t made the breakthrough at international level yet. Despite that, he’s clearly talented and could be a good signing if he can develop into a squad player who is capable of pushing for a starting spot.
