Bundesliga side are braced for a €6m bid from Celtic for their star striker

Celtic have been linked with various strikers for months, but it finally looks like they are starting to ramp up their interest and it could result in a bid.

Sebastian Andersson has been the focal point of Union Berlin’s strike force for a couple of seasons now, but a report from German outlet Kicker has suggested that a few clubs are considering him this summer.

Interestingly they point out that Celtic’s interest is the most advanced at this point, and it sounds like Union are expecting them to make an offer of around €6m in the next few days.

The Swede is 29 years old so this is probably his best chance to get a big move, but the report does point out that he dreams of playing in the Premier League. Leeds and West Brom are also said to be interested, so he could hold out for them.

He’s a physical striker who thrives on balls into the box so he would give Lenny a totally different option up front, and it could be handy to have that option to mix it up.

There will be occasions this season where the weather is bad, Celtic aren’t on their game or plastic pitches just make it impossible to play normally, so having Andersson to get on the end of a cross or a set-piece could be the difference between one point and three.

The report also indicates that Lille could make an offer but that could just be the French side trying to force Rangers to accept their bid for Morelos.

From Celtic’s point of view it’s not clear if this bid will actually be made, but he could be a handy addition and it’s worth keeping an eye on this story in the next few days.
