Memorable start for McCowan at Celtic

The former Hoops midfield star has been impressed by the impact that the ex-Ayr United and Dundee midfielder has made in his first few months at the club.

McCowan has already scored his first goal, played against theRangers and played a significant role in assisting for Adam Idah against St Johnstone at McDiarmid Park, although he has to share the credit for the assist with young Alex Valle.

Stan Petrov was some player for Celtic

Former Hoops midfielder Petrov made 312 appearances for Celtic, over seven years, scored 55 goals for the club and won four titles, three Scottish Cups and three League Cups during his time wearing the Hoops. So he knows what it takes to play in McCowan’s position and to be a hue success in doing so.

Luke would have enjoyed the chat with a player who would have been a hero of his growing up.

Luke was buzzing when he met Stan Petrov

“Luke just seems to smile every single minute,” Stan Petrov told Sunday Post. “We can all see how happy he is to be playing for Celtic. He has made significant contributions on the park and has already scored for Celtic. He is heading in the right direction.

“I had the pleasure of meeting him a few weeks ago and he was buzzing. I told him to enjoy these special times and to relax. He has wonderful ability and he will be an asset to the team this season, for sure. It must be great for Brendan to have so many good options.”
