DESPITE UEFA remaining in a state of denial, there is next to no chance that we’ll be back watching football in June. And for those who hold out hope of salvaging their season by getting the season declared Null and Void then they are in for a major disappointment. There may be appetite for this over at Ibrox – only because they trail Celtic by 13 points and are also 25 goals worse off that the Provisional Champions – but it’s not something that the other clubs can stomach, and for very good reason.

In England clubs are facing up to the reality that unless they finish this season they will have to pay back an astonishing £762million to broadcasters with future payments thereafter having to be re-negotiated. Canal Plus has already broken the bad news to the French clubs and there is no wish for this to happen in Scottish football, especially with the new and improved (by Scottish standards) TV deal about to start.

£762million lost broadcasting revenue if Premier League season isn’t completed.

The Celtic Star has been going on about the consequences of Null and Void for weeks, it will absolutely destroy the game.

Speaking to a senior Celtic official this week, we expressed our concerns at the relentless Null and Void campaign that is being waged in the press on behalf of the Rangers and we wanted to know what Celtic were doing about it.

“Wouldn’t rule out this season being completed, there is a definite push towards this,” was the reply, before adding “likely being played in August, contracts need to sorted though to ensure the same squads.” That was the feedback on this from the horse’s mouth.

So it looks like the league will resume in August and this season will be played to a conclusion, with both the title and relegation matters settled in the traditional manner on, on the field of play. Hearts will have the chance to turn things around and avoid relegation, it would have been unfair to relegate them without playing the games. League restructuring would have solved that problem but with the games set to be played then they can save themselves by winning enough games.

And guys like Alex Rae will just have to go back into his box, to turn green with envy as Celtic celebrate our ninth title in a row.

How many face masks would that £569,000 EBT buy for the NHS Alex?

No Celtic supporter ever wanted the season to be ended early but if that was to happen then the SPFL rules are clear – the leaders would be the Champions. The Rangers only want these rules set to one side and a Null and Void decision to be the preferred outcome only as a result of them falling 13 points and 25 goals behind Celtic.

Celtic fans were looking forward to winning the league – like we did on this day in 2017 – we were looking forward to Trophy day and the Scottish Cup semi-final against Aberdeen then hopefully the final and a chance to complete a quadruple treble. It seems that we’ll get these opportunities, just a little later that we initially thought.

One thing is for sure, had the Rangers been ahead in the league, even on goal difference, they’d all be screaming for the title to be theirs as per the rule book. But when the rules don’t suit the Ibrox clubs they simply demand a re-write, like the corrupt 5 Way Agreement.

With this decision set to be announced, it will give Alex Rae and the rest of their ‘legends’ a opportunity to reflect on their own role in the Rangers tax cheating and how that money could and should have been spent on public services like the NHS, buying stuff like face masks for the front-line workers, who are putting their own lives on the line every day of the week to look after the desperately ill.

Shame on you Alex Rae and the rest of the Rangers tax cheats.
