I love my country, but love Celtic more. It’s always club over country for me…

I’m a proud Scotsman. I love my country and want any Scottish man or woman to do well in whatever they are representing the country in, whether that is sport, or any other field in life. I always give them my total support.

That of course includes the Scottish national football team. They are my second favourite side after Celtic. or maybe third after the Celtic FC Women side. Or fourth after the Celtic B Team, but you see my point. When it comes to a straight choice between club and country, I’d choose Celtic without any hesitation every day of the week. My love for Celtic more than outweighs that of the love I have for my national side.

Darren Bent caused a bit of controversy on talksport this week when he said he would rather Arsenal won the league than England won the Euros. Nothing wrong with that in the slightest.

Of course you would love to see both, but club success for me beats country success hands down. So if offered a choice between Celtic winning the league this season or Scotland winning the euros (I know it will never happen) I would side with a Celtic title win all day long.

I love watching Scotland play and am looking forward to seeing how Callum McGregor and his Scotland teammates get on in Germany this summer. It’s just that I love watching Celtic more and our club’s result means much more to me than any international fixture involving Scotland. It’s not up for debate. It doesn’t make me any less patriotic, it’s just the way it is, and it will be the be same for a lot of other folk reading this.

I’m not sure how this all plays out in Ireland – is it Celtic before the Republic or the other way about. Let us know.

Just an Ordinary Bhoy
