It’s going to be interesting next week or so with the rumour mill going into overdrive as speculation mounts about who will be the next manager of Celtic Football Club.

As you would expect there are a number of names being banded about, but Brendan Rodgers and David Moyes are names we can forget as they have apparently ruled themselves out.

One name that keeps cropping up is Enzo Maresca, Pep Guardiola’s number two at Manchester City. Enzo certainly has a good pedigree and the Italian has picked up valuable experience in his coaching career, but his only shot as a number one at Parma was very short and wasn’t a success.

Celtic need an experienced man at the helm not a rookie, other names who have been mentioned like Jesse Marsch or Graham Potter would be my top choices. Both of course had a torrid time in the EPL last season, and were ultimately given the bullet by their respective sides, but both have a wealth of experience and their style of football is similar to what Ange implemented at Celtic.

Marsch has great experience having coached at the Red Buck clubs in Salzburg and Leipzig and is a highly rated coach. Potter is the same and both are modern thinking men and that, doubled with their experience makes them a great fit for the job.

Whether they are even being considered is another question though, but guys like them are who we should be looking at getting. Both are currently out of work, so we could do a lot worse than sound them out.
