Celtic will discover their Scottish Cup opponents in the Fourth Round of the competition after the Third Round concludes this weekend. There are twenty fixtures taking places over this weekend with the winners heading into the hat, where they will be joined by the Cinch Premiership teams.

The fourth round draw commences on Monday, November 28 on BBC Scotland, or BBC iPlayer for those steaming the game. The draw will take place right after the third-round fixture between Ayr and Pollok.

The first major trophy Celtic won was the Scottish Cup lifted on 9 April, 1892 with a 5-1 win over Queen’s Park at Ibrox. The Hampden side would win the country’s premier trophy 10 times inside the first 20 years of the cup’s existence, and Celtic would be the first club to overtake them, going on to be, with 40 wins currently, the most successful side in the competition.

Among the numerous unforgettable trophy-winning clashes in the previous Hampden showdowns was when Tom Rogic’s last-gasp strike was met with a flash of lightning and a peal of thunder as his goal not only won the Scottish Cup, but also sealed the Invincible Treble – the first of a clutch of consecutive triples for the Celts.

Frank McGarvey’s spectacular header to win the Scottish Cup in 1985 against Dundee United and the two late goals from Frank McAvennie three years later are also particularly fond memories for many reading this and for older readers who remember The Celtic Rising the 1965 Scottish Cup Final win over Dunfermline was extra special and highly significant.
