YESTERDAY it was reported that Oliver Burke was a target for Turkish side Trabzonspor, as the 23-year-old looks to make a move away from Premier League new boys West Brom.

However, according to Turkish media outlet Fotomac, Celtic are challenging the Turkish side for the signature of a player that they had on loan for the second half of the 2018/19 season. Burke possessed some good qualities such as pace, power and tenacity but managed a few sitters during his stint – Rangers, Aberdeen and Livi stick out.

The ex-£15m man showed some flashes of what he could do playing some good football at Celtic but when Rodgers left, Neil Lennon didn’t seem to fancy the Scotland Internationalist. During his time in Glasgow, Burke scored four goals in nineteen appearances as Celtic completed the Treble Treble.

Celtic are likely in the market for a right winger but it is probably not going to be Burke, especially after West Brom publicly blasted Celtic for their treatment of the Kirkcaldy-born attacker. Last summer, West Brom’s technical director Luke Dowling said Burke wouldn’t “be going anywhere near Celtic with the current manager”.

We will file this one under highly unlikely, although it would be interesting to see if Celtic would still be interested in taking a cheap punt on Burke and seeing if they can be the ones to bring out the talent that saw him move from Nottingham Forest to RB Leipzig at such a young age for £13m.
