After today’s Mainstream Media Conference, which we reported on earlier the new Celtic captain Callum McGregor spoke to Celtic View editor Paul Cuddihy about his appointment, what it means to him and his family and how he intends to do the job, having learned under the guidance of former club captain Scott Brown.

McGregor details what the role involves and how much of the responsibilities are outside the matchday stuff that the supporters will be familiar with but ultimately it’s about doing the job, ensuring that everything possible is done to ensure that he gets the chance to lift trophies above his head – as Scott Brown did on a regular basis.

It comes as no surprise that Ange Postecoglou has decided to appoint the clear front runner for the job of Celtic club captain, probably the only doubt would have been had the player indicated that he fancied joining the ranks of the want-aways as some in the media – that’s mainstream and fan media incidentally – have been spinning over the past week or so. Today’s decision makes them all look rather foolish.
