Stiliyan Petrov has told Sky Sports that he expects Celtic to edge this weekend’s Glasgow Derby at Celtic Park. The former Celtic star knows a thing or two about playing against the old Rangers in the now defunct Old Firm matches. No-one who was at Paradise on 27 August 2000 when Petrov doubled Celtic’s lead after just 8 minutes will forget the noise and the joy.

Chris Sutton had opened the scoring in the first minute and when Paul Lambert made it 3-0 with just 11 minutes on the clock, sitting in the front row of the the upper stand, above where the Green Brigade are now located, the stands were genuinely bouncing never mind the supporters!  That game finished 6-2 and effectively swung the balance of power in Glasgow back in Celtic’s favour after a pretty tough previous decade for those of a Celtic persuasion.

How he’d love a repeat of that start this Saturday!

This is a decent feature by Sky Sports, well worth a watch.
