It has been a hard couple of weeks for Celtic fans to look on and realise Vasilis Barkas is just as bad with fans as he was without.

The Greek goalie, 27, moved to Glasgow for a fee of £5million last summer following a string of superb performances for AEK Athens. However, sub standard performances have left Celtic pining for a new man between the sticks.

This morning, reliable journalist Fabrizio Romano has declared Celtic have opened talks with Joe Hart, the former England goalkeeper – with the news dividing the majority of the Celtic support.

Yet, despite the links with a keeper who has won everything England has to offer domestically – multiple times – fans are still unsure on the decision; with some claiming he isn’t good enough to don the famous goalkeeper kit.

Take it from a writer who is primarily a Burnley fan. He didn’t do badly for us, and that was in a team which was consistently under the cosh in the Premier League. For a team like Celtic – who for 38 games out of 38 should be consistently looking to take the front foot – he is much more suited to their style of play. Some of his shot stopping is superb – and how people want Barkas over him is baffling given the suicidal saves the Greek has produced.
