Ange Postecoglou has praised Celtic striker Kyogo for his recent outstanding form and ability to put the ball in the net following Celtic’s 4-0 demolition of St Mirren.
Celtic confidently swept St Mirren aside earlier today in their 4-0 victory at Celtic Park, which saw the Hoops maintain their nine-point lead at the top of the table. Kyogo netted two of Celtic’s four goals earlier this evening, with Liel Abada and David Turnbull putting away the others. Kyogo has been on a scoring rampage this season with 10 goals in his past 11 appearances in the Scottish Premiership.
Speaking to CelticTV, Ange gave his thoughts on Kyogo’s current form. “Brilliant. Kyogo has been on fire for quite a while, but his movement and part of his finishing is always there. I was pleased with quality of our goals tonight. Two trademark Kyogo goals, a set piece and Dave’s great strike were some really nice goals,” the Celtic manager said.
“It’s stuff we work on consistently and I don’t think its a secret to anyone, but it’s pretty hard to stop when we move the ball that quickly. Movements were sharp, I thought we played good football tonight, and not in easy conditions.”
Ange also gave his thoughts on Yuki Kobayashi’s debut for Celtic tonight and believes he handled himself well for his introduction into Scottish football.
“Yeah, he’s only a young guy. He’s still getting to grips with football here and life here. I thought he handled himself well, they are a physical team, pretty direct and he had to deal with a few things. He showed his qualities on the ball and he’ll build on that.”
With Greenock Morton to come on Saturday lunchtime, some reserve players will be gunning for a chance to play as Celtic hunt a domestic treble. And the Aussie agreed there would be a chance of rotation against the Scottish Championship outfit.
The Celtic manager added: “We’ll look at how everyone pulls up. It’s a short turnaround for a Saturday lunchtime game. We’ll have a look at who’s good in training and who is feeling good, and we have some players we can bring in. The guys who came on tonight brought in some energy, and I’m sure they’ll do that on the weekend too”
