Video: Neil Lennon says that Celtic’s squad isn’t Champions League ready

Neil Lennon has said that Celtic’s squad isn’t ready for the Champions League yet. The Irishman who has enjoyed success with the club as a player and a manager knows what it takes to be successful in Europe and believes that Brendan Rodgers needs to strengthen further if he wants to enjoy success in Europe.

Rodgers said that he wanted to continue the club’s success domestically whilst competing in Europe. Lennon, however, thinks that the Scottish Champions need to add a few more first team ready, Champions League quality, players.

With Jota and Carl Starfelt leaving, Celtic will likely see two first team vacancies. Maik Nawrocki and Gustaf Lagerbielke were signed to replace Starfelt but you’d imagine that another attacker and a defender would be high up on Celtic’s wishlist. Daniel Podence of Wolves and former Celt Kieran Tierney have been linked and will no doubt continue to be linked until the end of the summer.

  1. It doesn’t also help when players are playing high balls to Kyogo who is against 3 Kilmarnock defenders all over 6 foot.

Taylor also cannot even pass to a man and when he plays it up the line he can’t even keep it in. Time to give Bernabei a run.

  2. No ready for Europe are you havin a fcukin joke they no ready for killie, dont tell me this aint shite we watchin

  3. We all knew that before today, and now confirmed.
Big week ahead with the need for sorting that LB position out, amongst others.
Way to much long ball being used and expected far better tactical approach to games than what Rodgers is offering at present?
Constantly looking like a man short in the midfield areas.
Need changes to be made, with speed required in getting them, not happy with how the team set up is either with giving away far to many goals along with opportunities.
The lack of imagination in the forward areas remain another concern, yet will never be helpful if you continue to give away cheap ball and lack of good passes in the final third.
Very disappointing, with much work required throughout the club now
