Yesterday, those Celtic cricketers defeated the English!

OK, let’s admit it, England had not a bad day yesterday. The mighty men of Panama were put in their place and they won’t boast about their canal very much now, and on the cricket field, England whitewashed the demoralised Aussies…but what about the mighty Falkland Cricket Club?

Yesterday they beat Wolviston (near Middlesbrough) to reach the last 16 of the Cricketer Village Cup, scoring 206 as against 160, delighting their bus load of adoring fans and winning the respect of the sporting and gentlemanly Englishmen on as hot a day as one is ever likely to get in the UK.

And they did it with six Celtic supporters (OK, one was the 12th man, another was the Scorer) on board! So the conversation today of Stuart Campbell (a Billy McNeill-type captain figure), Ryan Hepburn, Craig Hepburn, Graeme Watson, Callum Watson and David Potter is peppered with references to finals at Lords in September as well as Double Trebles and things like that! Next Round is at Falkland a week come Sunday, and this website will provide all the details.

But in the meantime, congratulations to the Celts in the white flannels.(The non-Celts in the team are decent guys as well, by the way!)
