As pieces fall into place all around us we are starting to get a clearer picture on what’s about to happen. Last night we tipped Eddie Howe for a move to Everton, suspecting that this was the REAL reason for his last minute snub to Celtic and we can all watch that one unfolding as of today.

Carlo Ancelotti heading to Real Madrid will open the door for Howe to take the Everton job, that’s the club he supported as a boy, so he can spare us the spin about Lawwell’s house being petrol bombed as a reason for turning his back on a job he’d committed himself to taking. But someone helpfully advised us to stop talking about Howe so in matters closer to home, you may have noticed that during this lunchtime the spin from the outgoing CEO’s puppet is underway and this time we’re being sold John Kennedy and Gavin Strachan as the coaches set to be working under Ange Postecoglou.

Apparently we’re to believe that Postecoglou’s CV is “spotless” – by any measure that is not the case. He ended up in the lower leagues in Greece after a bust-up with a journalist in Australia after the Under 21s failed to qualify for a major tournament and in his time in Japan he’s had one great season in three. Ups and downs, able to bounce back from adversity, a battler, just what we need at this time, any of these selling points are fairer and more reasonable than trying to sell to the Celtic support that Postecoglou’s CV is “spotless”. James Forrest on The Celtic Blog has written a detailed piece on this and it’s well worth reading.

The Celtic support isn’t daft and can see through this stuff straight away, it’s incredible really that the club reckon they can spin it even now after all that has happened over the past year.

But it gets even better. Apparently because we’ve lost two months due to waiting for Eddie Howe ( a situation Celtic allowed to develop), we’re now being told that as Postecoglou is facing a fortnight isolation period with the first team due back just a week later. That’s assuming a deal can be reached with his current employers who might fancy their chances playing hardball such is the situation that Celtic find themselves on, despite their parent company’s close relationship with Peter Lawwell.

And even if it is agreed Postecoglou then needs to get himself, his family and all their possessions shipped half around the world to Glasgow. That will all take time and as we’ve avoided the scenario of Howe selecting his own coaches and backroom staff (he spoke in detail to Brendan Rodgers on the pros and cons of working for Celtic) it’s back to the good old days when the Board get to appoint backroom staff for a manager who is in no position to make those calls himself. Sounds familiar?

So there you have it, John Kennedy and Gavin Strachan are the “manager’s supporting cast”…but wait for it, theRangers are having a share issue, Financial Fair Play Blah Blah Blah, so all is actually well at Celtic. Comedy gold if it wasn’t so tragic.
