Things are looking up – why the defence injury update is good news

Things are looking up where Celtic’s defence are concerned. Brendan Rodgers will have all his defensive unit back in contention for the start of the season, which is excellent news.

Carl Starfelt is back to fitness as is new signing Maik Nawrocki, add to that longer term absentees Tony Ralston and Cameron Carter Vickers who were also spotted back in full training and I guess we can rest easy going into the new season.

Our backline has been our undoubted Achilles heel recently, namely the end of the season and pre season.

Saturday might come to soon for him, but the clash at Pittodrie on Sunday week is a game that looks more likely for him to return, and with all due respect to Ross County, the Dons clash is a more tougher challenge.

Add to that a fit and raring Carl Starfelt and new Bhoy Maik Nawrocki in contention our back line will have added presence available going into the new season. Not forgetting Anthony Ralston either. He may not be the most talented right back but he does his job and never shirks a challenge. He is more than an able deputy for Alistair Johnston.

Suddenly things are looking up. Smiles all around.
