Celtic have confirmed the sale of Carl Starfelt to Celta Vigo. The Spanish side have brought in the experienced centre-half to La Liga, which allows the player to be closer to his family and partner, who live in Portugal.
Carl Starfelt has today joined RC Celta on a permanent transfer.
Everyone at #CelticFC thanks Carl for his contribution to the Club over the last two seasons, and wishes him good luck in his future career! 🍀

The Scottish Champions will receive £4.3m for Carl Starfelt as the defender swaps Scotland for Spain. Starfelt joins on a four year deal.
The 28-year-old has been excellent since arriving from Rubin Kazan in the summer of 2021, forming a formidable defensive pairing with Cameron Carter-Vickers.
Starfelt has made 87 appearances for Celtic since arriving from the Russian side. In that time, he has scored three times and assisted twice. Rodgers may have wanted to keep Starfelt around, even with the arrival of Polish central defender Nawrocki, but the player was seeking a fresh challenge and it’s likely for the best that the cash received is reinvested.
It appears that Starfelt’s compatriot Gustaf Lagerbielke is a target for Celtic in their hunt for defensive replacements. Celtic are said to have made a £3m move for the 23-year-old but it remains to be seen whether Elfsborg will accept this deal.
Good luck, Carl.
Good luck to him. I know that he wasn’t everyones favourite but he was still a decent player and a good guy.
