Brendan Rodgers is hoping to sign three or four new players ahead of the transfer window closing. The Irishman stated in the wake of the defeat to Kilmarnock in the League Cup on Sunday that he wanted to add quality to his side and that they would seek to do this before the window closes.
As reported by Stephen McGowan at the Daily Mail, Rodgers is keen to add three or four new faces to his squad and one of those may be Luis Palma. The 23-year-old has been linked with a £3.5m move for the winger.
Celtic have been linked with signing a left-back, a winger, a striker and a goalkeeper in the closing stages of the transfer window and it will be interesting to see whether any new names crop up.
Players like Daniel Podence (Wolves), Ryan Fraser (Newcastle) and Kieran Tierney have been touted with moves to the club. All of which would likely strengthen the squad in its current state but the manager has said that he is keen to work within the club’s framework wherever possible. This may have an impact on signings from England as paying Premier League wages will likely not be within that framework.
We should, of course, expect there to be departures from the club as well. Players like Albian Ajeti, Ismaila Soro and James McCarthy are expected to leave whilst there will also be the consideration given to players that are unlikely to feature under the manager, who may benefit from game time elsewhere.
